RAISING HOPE This new half-hour sitcom comes from My Name is Earl creator Greg Garcia and shares the same DNA, being a funny and sweet slice of blue-collar life with a large helping of surrealism and absurdity. It finds 23-year-old Jimmy Chance faced with bringing up a baby after an ill-advised one-night stand with a serial killer. Yes, really. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT The wealthy, multi-generational Bluth family bonds together for survival after their patriarch is arrested and the family assets are frozen. This modern classic has proved a breeding ground for some of comedy’s biggest stars such as Michael Cera, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman and here’s your chance to relive the laughs with this episode, S.O.Bs. LEAD BALLOON Hapless Rick Spleen is back, and in this series, his career hits an all-time low - even by his own dismal standards. From public humiliation on live TV to private embarrassment at a comedy workshop, it seems everything Rick touches turns to mould. In this episode he buys a pig in order to impress a visiting Sunday Times journalist - while also pretending to write a novel. THE CLEVELAND SHOW This spin-off from Family Guy sees that show’s soft-spoken neighbour, Cleveland, relocating to his home town and rekindling a relationship with a school flame. In this episode, Cleveland discovers he has a secret admirer... THE OFFICE Taken from the seventh season of the US version of The Office (the last to star Steve Carell), this acclaimed episode finds Michael concocting ever-more outrageous schemes to propose to Holly. With its mix of observational comedy and romance perfectly calibrated, it’s classic Office, and not to be missed. OUTNUMBERED Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner live in a house where the kids rule the roost and steal the show. Sue makes a shocking discovery; Angela pays a visit with her new boyfriend; Jake wins two bets, and Pete’s plan to have a conflict-free meal out fails to work. TWO AND A HALF MEN They didn’t realise when it was being made, but this is the final episode of Two and Half Men to star party animal Charlie Sheen. In it brother Alan is up to his neck in shady dealings while Charlie summons the courage to propose to Rose. COME FLY WITH ME Little Britain’s David Walliams and Matt Lucas write and star in this hilarious mockumentary series spoofing documentaries such as Airport and Airline. In this episode, mum’s trying to make dinner, but neighbour Jim keeps interrupting to use their toilet. JOHN BISHOP BRITAIN Stand-up, sketches and celebrity stories all mingle in this new show from the mind of Liverpool comedian John Bishop, known for his knack of finding the funny side of everyday situations. 30 ROCK Both critically acclaimed and fantastically funny, with quick one liners and hilarious performances from a stellar cast. A laugh out loud comedy that will appeal to all. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door and the guys start to realise there is more to life than finding the meaning of it. FAMILY GUY Controversial US talk show host Rush Limbaugh stars as himself in this excellent episode of the animated series that isn’t afraid to go where other animated shows fear to tread. MODERN FAMILY The sitcom that has been taking America and The UK by storm uses the mockumentary format to focus on the many different parts of an extended and, yes, very modern family. Fresh and most importantly very funny, it’s had critics doing happy cartwheels. THE SIMPSONS More hilarious fun from everyone’s favourite family. The longest running animated series on primetime network television is still as popular as it ever was. Catch up with Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa and Maggie as they go about their day-to-day business causing havoc along the way. The series has spawned plenty of catchphrases from 'Doh' to 'Eat My Shorts’ and has forever cemented itself in popular culture. BORED TO DEATH Quirky new HBO series stars Jason Schwartzman as a hangdog writer who decides to try his luck as a private detective. This episode finds him helping to locate a kid’s missing skateboard but falling for his mum, played by indie favourite Parker Posey. THE BIG C We have the first episode of this warmly received comedy starring Laura Linney as Cathy, who’s diagnosed with cancer then seeks to overhaul her life. It’s brilliantly observed and expertly walks a fine line between comedy and tragedy. No wonder Linney won a Golden Globe. |
