In April 2015, doors are set to open on the brand new Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Los Angeles Airport Terminal 2. Created by the Virgin Atlantic in-house design team, in partnership with Slade Architecture, the space takes its design cues from nature. Think sculptural lines and glimmers of gold inspired by that famous Los Angeles sunshine. Design Manager Callie Tedder-Hares has been on site. She says, “we’re just past the halfway mark with the build and the space is really taking shape. The warm gold hues are looking really dynamic, especially when the sun falls on the sculptural wall. We’re excited to be nearing completion and look forward to welcoming customers to another fantastic Clubhouse.”
The Clubhouse will showcase the talents of California based artists as well as up and coming British artist Vic Lee. Vic’s work is a mix of typography, passion, charm and beautification, which he calls wall tattoos. He told us, “when you have Virgin Atlantic contact you to create a mural for them, it feels tasty. When they tell you it’s in the Clubhouse in Los Angeles, it turns to deliciousness! It’s very exciting to be asked by one of the world’s coolest companies to create a piece of art in an equally cool city. I am looking forward to putting down some ink on walls at the Virgin Clubhouse in LA and bringing some London artistry across the pond.”
We’re also looking to collaborate with local restaurants to provide a unique dining experience that truly reflects the Californian lifestyle. This will support the apothecary-inspired bar and infused cocktails developed by our food and beverage team.
We’re pleased to say that Los Angeles World Airport authority is also developing the facilities in terminal 2 for all our customers. The team there is partnering with Westfield to bring a new departure lounge and check in facilities. Because of that, until the work is completed in 2016, there will be limited Terminal 2 eating and drinking options for customers not using the lounges. So we suggest grabbing a bite to eat before heading to the airport, or simply relaxing and looking forward to our fantastic onboard food and drink service.
