You should be aware that the US screens passenger information for all travellers entering the country.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is responsible for the US No Fly List – a watch-list put together to ensure the utmost security on flights into the US. 

When you give your Advance Passenger Information (API) for a flight to the US, your full name, date of birth and gender will be supplied to the TSA for watch-list screening. You can visit the TSA website to find out more about this process.

Redress policy

It may be the case you share the name of someone on the US government’s ‘no fly list’, which could mean you’ve experienced difficulties when flying to or from the US in the past. 

If this is the case you can apply for a ‘redress number’ from the Department of Homeland Security’s Traveller Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP). This number will help prevent confusions over your identity in future.
