Using electronic devices

Gate to gate usage

Just getting to a good bit in your eBook? Can’t stop listening to that one track on your phone? The good news is that from February 2014 you can use handheld electronic devices with a flight safe mode throughout our flights.

Below is a reference guide to which devices you can use, when. If you have any questions when you’re onboard, please ask one of our crew.

Please switch to flight safe mode when the aircraft door closes for departure.

Larger devices

Please switch off and stow for taxi, takeoff and landing.

Transmitting devices with no flight safe mode

Headphones

Can I use the Virgin Atlantic headphones?
Yes, throughout the flight for the inflight entertainment system, including during taxi, take-off and landing.

If you’re using headphones, please still pay full attention to the safety demonstration as we depart.

At certain times the flight crew or cabin crew may ask you to switch off all electronic devices. Please listen out for their announcements.

Using your mobile phone onboard

On our A330s and some of our B747s you can access the Aeromobile network. This lets you make calls, send and receive texts, check emails and surf the web. The cost will be similar to your network’s usual international roaming charges.

Head to our mobile phones page for more information.
