Introducing the Boeing 787

Introducing 'Birthday Girl'

Coming to the sky near you soon, we will be launching our Boeing 787 on 28 October 2014. The aircraft's first route will be...Boston!

We will begin rolling out the 787s to the east coast of the USA, before introducing them to our longer haul routes.

Get ready for an evolution in air travel.

The 787s will set the benchmark for in flight service and comfort and we've got some exciting treats coming your way.

Passengers throughout the aircraft will benefit from access to WiFi connectivity, with the latest in in-flight entertainment, and dynamic mood lighting throughout.

As well as the passenger benefits, the Boeing 787-9 will bring major commercial and environmental benefits to Virgin Atlantic. Radically improved fuel efficiency means it is 21% more efficient on a per flight basis than the equivalent sized aircraft in Virgin’s fleet.

Building the 787

Building a 787 is no easy task, but our friends at Boeing are progressing well and 'Birthday Girl' is beggining to take shape.

The images below are from the production line in Seattle, and show just how much work is involved in creating a 787.
