Based on photographer Ari Seth Cohen’s blog of the same name, this stirring documentary not only challenges the conventional notions of beauty forced on us by the fashion and beauty industries, but also celebrates the pure joy of life. It focuses on seven stylish New York women, all aged ‘between 50 and death’, who treat the city like their own personal catwalk, exuding exuberance and individual style. The film touches on the problems associated with aging, as well as looking at how the women’s appearances on Cohen’s blog have thrust fame upon them. Mostly, though, it gives us a insight into the lives of these unique women and reminds us that beauty is to be found everywhere – you just need to open your mind to find it.
