Virgin Atlantic buys everything from aircraft to zips and everything in between. The price has to be right, but so do the environmental and social credentials.
We aim to source goods and services in a way that minimises damage to the environment and creates a positive impact on society. Our Sustainable Procurement Policy lays out the standards we expect from our suppliers. It's in line with key international standards such as the International Labour Organisation's fundamental conventions and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.
We were the first airline to offer Fairtrade tea and coffee onboard our flights and have partnered with One Water. In March 2013 we announced a first for the airline industry, our partnership with the Sustainable Restaurant Association. You can read more about our sustainable buying initiatives in our Sustainability Report 2013.
We're also working hard to better engage with our suppliers on our sustainable buying criteria, year on year. This will help us to make sure we continually improve the credentials of our products and services onboard and on the ground.
