Bigelow's searing Iraq war drama has been heaped with praise and it's easy to see why. The nail-biting plot involves an elite army bomb squad involved in a game of cat and mouse, but what has really sent the critics into a spin is the movie's sense of realism and brutal intensity.

This animated comedy is great fun for the youngsters, while for the grown-ups it's an affectionate (and very accurate) spoof-cum-homage of Fifties' sci-fi movies. It sees Earth under alien attack, and the government calling upon a secret force of monsters - promising their freedom in return for vanquishing the invaders.
