Set in a post-apocalyptic future, this feature-length version of an Oscar-nominated short revolves around 'stitchpunk' dolls and killing machines that have wiped out humanity. It looks stunning, with the visuals bearing dark, whimsical hallmark of its producer, Tim Burton.

Black comedy starring Bullock as a kooky crossword writer who thinks she's struck lucky on a blind date with a hunk. Trouble is, he's not so keen - even less so when she begins trailing him. It's a premise that ticks the funny box, but also has a thing or to say about what constitutes 'normal'. In other words, it's smarter than your average rom-com.

Swank is note perfect as aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart in this stately biopic, which follows her life right up to her fateful attempt to circumnavigate the globe. Rich with great performances and period detail, it’s a beautifully framed piece.

Based on a true story, this is a highly acclaimed coming-of-age drama set in a beautifully recreated post-war London suburb. In it, Mulligan gives a career-making performance as Jenny, who is all set to study at Oxford when a hiccup arrives in the shape of David who is twice her age. Will she stay or will she go?

A hugely successful Japanese weepie about a couple, Chie and Taro, who fall in love. When Chie can no longer hide the fact that she has terminal cancer she leaves - but Taro's not about to let her go that easily.

Cage and Theron are among the voices for this animated adventure about a scientist who invents a powerful robot child. He gives the kid some some pretty nifty add-ons, which Astro Boy uses to become a world famous super-hero and save Earth. Lively and lots of fun, the kids will love it.

The latest from Mendes is a remarkable film about what seems a mundane subject. In this case, where do expectant parents Burt and Veronica live? To find out they travel across the USA in order to find the perfect place to put down roots. It's an exquisitely well-judged and performed piece, not to be missed.

Nigerian movie about a notorious armed robber who steals a car, then opens the back door and realises he has also stolen a sick baby. Believe it or not, the stage is set for a romantic encounter.

There are plenty of treats in this action-packed Bollywood thriller about a search for underwater treasure and the various factions intent on getting their hands on it. Featuring some brilliantly staged set-pieces and an appearance from Kylie Minogue.

This story of a father trying to bring up two boys is a real emotional rollercoaster. Not only does it pack an emotional wallop as Joe (Owen) and son Artie must deal with the death of mum Katy, but when Joe’s older son joins them, dad’s 'no rules' policy provides some deliciously comic moments. A real gem of a film, that's not to be missed.


BRIGHT STAR

Acclaimed romance concerning the secret relationship of poet John Keats, with the girl next door Fanny Brown and their deepening love as problems mount. Performances are intense and the setting exquisite. In short, this is masterful film-making.

What follows is a bright, funny film that gives you something to think about amid the laughs.

This is that rarest of things, an action movie with brains. The plot involves an alien refugee camp where a human is infected with alien DNA and may now hold the key to the new species' advanced weaponry.

This remake takes the same vignette-heavy approach, following a group of kids as they attempt to enrol at New York's High School of Performing Arts. It's a melting pot of ideas and stories, as well as some gobsmacking song and dance scenes.

Judd Apatow's latest stars Adam Sandler, who gives a career-best turn as a comedian suffering from a rare blood disorder - who then begins to re-evaluate his life and his relationships. Rich, funny and absorbing, it is not to be missed.
