MEDICAL ESCORTS

Medical clearance for the patient must be obtained prior to travel. Please contact Special Assistance on ++44 (0) 1293 493650.

A Medical Information Form (MEDIF) needs to be completed by the hospital or treating physician. The form can be downloaded below. Please note, there are 2 parts which will need to be completed.

- MEDIF form 1.

• Medical escorts must be suitably qualified, must carry all necessary medication and equipment required for their patient inflight.
  
  
• Medical escorts must carry appropriate identification and documentation to justify the purpose of their travel with medical kit bags, in order to satisfy any security measures. Kit bags should be adequately secured and locked.
  
  
• Medical equipment required for use inflight, must be battery operated and cleared for use onboard prior to travel. Please see 'Carriage of Medical Equipment' for further information.
  
  
• The medical escort may be required to assist in the evacuation of their patient during an emergency situation.

Virgin Atlantic does not provide a stretcher service.

Our Upper Class Suite seat does convert to a fully flat bed, but must be vacated for the seat to flip over and reveal the mattress. For safety reasons, it cannot be used in flat bed mode during take off and landing. This seat is therefore not a substitute for a stretcher.

The Suite does not offer the degree of privacy required for a passenger who needs enhanced care.
