FLYING WHILST PREGNANT
Virgin Atlantic welcome pregnant passengers. To safeguard the health of mother and baby, the following guidelines are in place:
Providing your pregnancy has been uncomplicated and you are not experiencing a related medical condition there is no problem flying until your 28th week. Please see our In flight Health section for more information on keeping well whilst flying. If your return date of travel is on or after your 28th week of pregnancy, please let our Special Assistance Advisors know before you fly. They will offer you advice on how this may affect your travel arrangements. After your 28th week, for single uncomplicated pregnancies, you may travel, but your travel must be completed by the end of your 36th week. If you are intending to travel between 28-36 weeks, the Airline will require a medical letter from your Doctor or Midwife confirming your Estimated Date of Delivery and stating there are no complications. The letter can be written at any point within the term of the pregnancy, however should you develop any complications you must contact us in advance of your travel. After your 28th week, for multiple uncomplicated pregnancies, you may travel, but your travel must be completed by the end of your 32nd week. If you are intending to travel between 28-32 weeks, the Airline will require a medical letter from your Doctor or Midwife confirming your Estimated Date of Delivery and stating there are no complications. The letter can be written at any point within the term of the pregnancy, however should you develop any complications you must contact us in advance of your travel. Outside of these restricted periods, we may only carry you for urgent medical or compassionate reasons and only on approval of the Virgin Atlantic Medical Advisors.
