Safety & Security

SAFE AND SECURE

The safety and security of our passengers and crew is Virgin Atlantic's top priority. Our security standards meet and, in a number of areas exceed, statutory requirements.

All our aircraft have reinforced flight-deck doors and linked CCTV equipment. We also deploy a range of overt and covert protective measures, including profiling, to maximise the airline's security.

To ensure the robustness of our security regime the airline operates a self-test programme. Joint audits and inspections are also conducted with our regulators and we are members of the Department for Transport's Aviation Security Compliance Forum.

Much focus is placed on threat assessment to ensure we have the most current and accurate data on which to make informed judgements. Virgin Atlantic will not operate a flight unless we believe it is safe to do so.

We enjoy excellent relationships with government, law enforcement and security agencies worldwide and work in partnership with them to ensure the integrity of aviation security.

For more information on packing advice please see Dangerous Articles in Baggage.

VIRGIN ATLANTIC SUPPORTS THE PROJECT GRIFFIN INITIATIVE

The aim of the project is to raise awareness of counter-terrorism measures and better equip personnel to deal with security challenges, both on a daily basis and in the event of a major incident.
