Our Projects
GOLD STANDARD

Gold Standard credits are independently validated, adhere to best practice methodology and only support renewable energy or energy efficiency technologies (no tree planting or gas flaring). Most importantly they are additional which means they would not have happened as businesss as usual, so you are not paying money for old rope as it were. More like money for new clean technology! Not only that but they guarantee that local communities as well as the environment benefit from these projects.

INDIA

One of our projects is based in India - developing a power plant which turns farming waste like sugar cane husks into electricity for the local community. It also produces ash that local farmers are given as fertiliser for their crops.

This project generates Gold Standard Certified Emission Reduction. This means it has been verified by a representative of the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development mechanism executive board, and the Gold Standard.

INDONESIA

We’re also supporting a hydropower plant in Indonesia which will employ and provide new skills to the local community, as well as offer a source of clean and reliable electricity for them.

This means it will be verified by a third party as well as Gold Standard, but that it is not accounted for under the Kyoto Protocol.

HOW MUCH MONEY GOES TO THE PROJECTS?

Myclimate guarantees that at least 85% of the money paid into the scheme goes direct to the projects themselves. This is one of the best guarantees available right now. Myclimate use the other 15% to cover their administrative charges, including payment processing and other integral activities.

WHEN WILL THE ACTUAL EMISSIONS REDUCTIONS BE MADE?

The emissions reductions from the India project were made between 2001 and 2006. It then took some time to take them through the Gold Standard registration process to confirm they made these emissions reductions, which is why they are only available to buy this year.

The Indonesian project is up and running now, and the emissions reductions which we provide to our customers will be made within the next four years.
