To sustainability...

...AND BEYOND!

Here are just a few more steps of many, on how we are making our business as sustainable as possible.

Back to 1 to 15.

16

TO CLOSE THE RECYCLING LOOP QUICKLY

We’re aiming for a 50% reduction in our waste to landfill by 2012. To do this we’re choosing more items that are reusable, recyclable or biodegradable and sourcing products that use fewer materials.

17

TO REDUCE OUR STAFF FOOTPRINT EAGERLY

To reduce the carbon footprints of our staff, we’re looking at long-term measures to address the emissions we produce while on company business.

18

TO TRADE EMISSIONS ENTHUSIASTICALLY

To continue to push for an international emissions trading scheme.

19

TO SHOP SUSTAINABLY

To buy sustainable is to be sustainable and we're will be working with our entire supply chain to help us reduce our environmental impact.
20

TO COMMUNICATE WITH CUSTOMERS CONSCIENTIOUSLY

We print all of our marketing materials on recycled paper or paper from sustainable sources.

21

TO INSPIRE YOU POSITIVELY

To inspire you to make a change, we're providing you with tips on how you can reduce your footprint and also the opportunity to offset your emissions through our Gold Standard offset scheme.

22

TO LISTEN TO OUR STAFF CAREFULLY

We're constantly getting our staff inspired about all things environmental and asking them how they think we can meet our environmental targets.
23

TO FILL UP OUR SHOPPING TROLLEYS MORE CONSIDERATELY

To shop smarter, every time we buy a new plane, we’re making sure it’s more fuel-efficient than the one it's replacing.

24

TO SAVE FUEL DILIGENTLY

Through collaboration between our pilots, our engineers and our flight operations teams, we have saved 7000 tonnes of fuel this year, which saved some 21,000 tonnes of CO2. We'll let you know what we hope to save next year soon.

25

TO TAKE-OFF AND LAND EVEN MORE EFFICIENTLY

By changing the way we land and take off we're using less fuel and putting less strain on our engines.

26

TO CHOOSE OUR FRIENDS WISELY

To re-examine our carbon footprint, we worked with our friends at the Carbon Trust on a review of all the energy we use in our ground operations.

27

TO LOBBY GOVERNMENT FEARLESSLY

You have a right to know what environmental projects the government is spending your Air Passenger Duty on - and we'll continue to lobby them to release the details...

28

TO EMBED CHANGE ACROSS OUR BUSINESS POSITIVELY

All of Virgin Atlantic's 9000 staff, from Richard downwards are helping us meet our sustainability challenge.
