Our Cargo department's philosophy is to help charities and members of the general public whose hearts are bigger than their budgets!

We offer free onboard space for charitable shipments that meet our criteria and help children and young people across our network. We’ll be happy to give you a full list of criteria on request, but before asking for assistance, please remember:

  • You must appoint a broker or freight forwarder at your chosen destination
  • We have limited space and shipments may have to travel on more than one flight
  • The shipment must comply with local government and customs regulations in the UK and at the point of destination
  • Only the flight part of a shipment is free - you must pay for all other charges including customs clearance, duty levies, handling, screening, import licences, storage, cartage etc.
  • You must contact us at least two weeks in advance of your proposed shipment date
  • We do not currently accept shipments bound for India or Lagos or inbound shipments from the U.S.
Even if you meet the criteria, we're sorry to say we can’t guarantee assistance, but we promise we’ll try our best to help! All requests should be emailed to vacoms@fly.virgin.com
