BOOKING

We value your custom, and our first commitment is to offer you, at the time you make your booking, our lowest possible fare available for the time, date and class of service you wish to travel in. From time to time, we may offer different fares through this website. Please call our Contact Centre and we will remind you of other fares that may be available.

After you have booked and paid for your ticket we will not increase your fare, however any increase in taxes, fees, charges and surcharges will be subject to additional payment.

We are committed to providing you with value for your money. We are sure that once you have experienced our renowned and award winning customer service you will come back for more. To make the booking process simpler for you, we will allow you to hold a telephone reservation made directly with our contact centres without payment for a maximum of 24 hours. This does not apply when we require you to pay immediately (for example Instant Purchase, or special offer 'sale' fares).

We understand that occasionally booking errors occur and if you make a booking on our own website you can make name or date changes within 24 hours of the booking being made for a charge of £30 per change. (You can't transfer a ticket to a completely different person though and date changes are subject to availability, any difference in price will be either collected or refunded). Likewise if during the booking process our system causes you to make and pay for a duplicate flight, we will issue a full refund of the duplicate flight without any charge, providing you tell us within 24 hours of the booking being made and subsequently provide us with your credit or debit card statement. These amendments can only be made by calling our contact centre.

For security reasons it is absolutely essential that the name on your booking, ticket and passport are exactly the same.

If they are not you will be unable to board the flight. This applies to every passenger so when you are making your booking either through a travel agent or direct with us via our website or contact centre it's a good idea to have all the passports with you. The person that you’ve known as John all your life may be called Jack in his passport. And Jane may be spelt Jayne.

This rule also applies to marriage or maiden names. We can no longer allow passengers to travel by accepting marriage certificates or decree absolutes in conjunction with a passport.

Your booking and ticket must reflect your first and last names only. Middle names are not required.

If a mistake has been made we will allow you to amend the name to reflect the correct spelling in the passport, up to 2 hours before the flight is due to depart. However you cannot transfer the ticket to another person.

If you have booked through a travel agaent, please call them to change the name, or if you have booked through our website or over the phone, you can call our Contact Centre. There will be a charge of £30 to amend each name.

One of our aims at Virgin Atlantic is to provide you with a seamless journey from booking to end. In order to do this, we try to provide you with as much information as possible about what to expect at each stage of your journey, and how you can help us to help you. Please note that all flights we operate are non-smoking.

When you book your flight from us we will tell you:

  • The planned scheduled time of departure and arrival of your flight
  • The airport and terminal of departure and arrival
  • The number of en-route stops, if any
  • Any conditions attached to the fare you will pay
  • The name of the operating carrier and the flight number
When you receive your ticket we will:

  • Reconfirm flight times
  • Inform you of your free baggage allowance and the liability that we will be responsible for
  • Inform you of your cabin baggage allowance
If you ask us, we will try to inform you about:

  • The aircraft type scheduled to be operated on the route, and the seat pitch you can expect
  • The services normally offered on your flight
  • The services provided by our Special Assistance Department and any associated costs
  • Whether specific seats can be allocated or pre-booked
  • The charges we make for excess baggage
  • Our Conditions of Carriage
  • Our frequent flyer programme, flying club
  • The assistance you will receive from us in the event that your baggage is lost, damaged or delayed
  • Our own Customer Charter
Certain operational constraints sometimes require us to substitute the operating carrier for your flight and/or significantly change the scheduled flight times. In circumstances where we have not been able to inform you about these changes prior to your flight, and you find this substitution or change unacceptable, we will try to carry you on the next flight we have available on which there is space in the same class. In the unlikely event that this is still unacceptable, you will be entitled to a refund.

Certain terms and conditions will apply to the fare that you choose, as will taxes, fees, charges and surcharges. We will tell you plainly what these are.
