ADVANCE PASSENGER INFORMATION

Suitcases floating in the air
If you are travelling to the US, you will notice that we are now collecting additional Advance Passenger Information (API). This is a US Government regulation that requires all airlines to transmit additional information about passengers prior to the departure of flights to the United States.

Specifically, there is a requirement for all passengers to provide their country of residence and (for non-US residents) details of their full address (street name and number, city, zip code and state) for their first night’s accommodation in the US. Passengers travelling to the US continue to require a machine-readable passport or valid visa.

HOW WE'LL COLLECT API FROM YOU

Our aim is to make the process of collecting the required information as quick and easy as possible for all of our US bound passengers. You can provide this information in the following ways:

  • At time of booking;
  • Once you've made a booking to the US by selecting Amend Booking within Manage Your Flights;
  • When Checking In online or using our DIY Kiosk facilities at London Heathrow;
  • At Check In (although it is strongly recommended that you use one of the above options to save time). If you use this option, please make sure you have a note of your address in the US handy.
We would ask that all passengers continue to provide their valid travel documents and details of their full US destination address for US Immigration. There is no requirement for passengers to arrive at the airport any earlier than usual or to provide any information in advance of checking in for their flight

FURTHER INFORMATION

If you would like more information on API you can visit our FAQ section.

You can also find out more about API through the US Customs and Border Protection website by going to www.customs.gov/xp/cgov/home.xml(This link opens a new window)
