Sir Richard Branson on the set of Casino Royale

23 OF 25 THE NAME'S ATLANTIC - VIRGIN ATLANTIC

Virgin Atlantic has teamed up with the James Bond franchise on both of the last two Bond movies, "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace". Back in 2006 the producers of "Casino Royale" were filming in Prague and needed to make it look like Miami International Airport. Sir Richard Branson loaned them one of his new Airbus A340-600’s and a global relationship began, that even saw a cameo appearance for the Virgin boss.

In January 2008 the Bond team and Virgin Atlantic were working together again on a scene for "Quantum of Solace". The scene itself was filmed at The Base, Virgin Atlantic's cabin crew training facility near Gatwick Airport, the largest in Europe. The Bond team moved in for the weekend and worked on the scene between Bond and Mathis, set at the Upper Class bar onboard a Virgin Atlantic flight.

Callum McDougal, Executive Producer on "Quantum of Solace" said "We’re shooting a scene with Bond and Mathis, its ideal because it saves us actually having to build the interior of an airline. We’ve got the new Upper Class which looks fantastic."

A few days later the 007 cast, crew and a huge amount of cargo took a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 to Panama to continue filming, arriving neither shaken nor stirred!
