MEDICAL CONDITIONS

The following common medical conditions/injuries do not require medical clearance to fly, providing that the condition is stable and you currently feel well:

  • High blood pressure/high cholesterol.
  • Diabetes.
  • Blood disorders such as Anaemia, (providing no oxygen is required).
  • Epilepsy, (if no seizures in the past 24 hours).
  • Arthritis.
  • Insect bites.
  • Minor injuries: toe and finger injuries; twisted ankle; pulled muscles; small cuts.
  • Sunburn.
The following major medical conditions do not require medical clearance, if they occurred more than three months ago, are stable, you do not require oxygen and you currently feel well:

  • Heart attack/angioplasty.
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)/Pulmonary Embolism (PE).
  • Stroke (CVA)/Head injury.
  • Surgery on the heart, chest or abdomen.
  • Joint replacement or amputation.

MOBILITY RELATED CONDITIONS

Conditions that include paralysis, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson's disease do not require medical clearance. However if you intend to travel alone, please contact Special Assistance so that we can discuss any assistance that you may need on the ground or during the flight.

ALLERGIES

Allergies to food where a reaction is resolved with medication do not require clearance. However, if you have been hospitalised or required adrenaline treatment (EpiPen) in the last 30 days, please contact Special Assistance.

Please note - if you have a non-standard meal requirement because of your allergy, we require 48 hours notice to request this.
