WHAT IS THE REDRESS POLICY ?

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires you to provide your full name, date of birth, and gender for the purpose of watch list screening, under the authority of 49 U.S.C. section 114, the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 and 49 C.F.R parts 1540 and 1560. You may also provide your Redress Number, if available. Failure to provide your full name, date of birth, and gender may result in denial of transport or denial of authority to enter the boarding area. TSA may share information you provide with law enforcement or intelligence agencies or others under its published system of records notice. For more on TSA privacy policies, or to review the system of records notice and the privacy impact assessment, please see the TSA Web site at www.tsa.gov

WHAT IS SECURE FLIGHTS AND WHAT DOES IT DO?

Secure Flight is a behind the scenes programme that streamlines the watch list matching process for all US domestic and international flights. It will improve the travel experience for all passengers, including those who have experienced difficulties in the past because they have been mistakenly matched to a person on the watchlist..

WHAT INFORMATION WILL BE COLLECTED BY SECURE FLIGHT?

When fully implemented, Secure Flight will require all airlines operating flights to/from the US to provide a passenger's name as it appears on their passport, along with date of birth, gender, and redress number (if applicable).

WHAT IS A REDRESS NUMBER?

Any person who believes they have been mistakenly matched to a name on the watch list and have subsequently experienced difficulties when flying to/from the US can apply for Redress through the Department of Homeland Security Traveller Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP). A unique Redress Number will be returned. Secure Flight uses this Redress Number to prevent future misidentifications for any passenger who may have a name that is similar to an individual on the watch list. If a passenger holds a Redress Number then they can, if they wish, provide this to Virgin Atlantic when booking a flight to/from the US.

To provide a Redress Number to Virgin Atlantic please call your local Reservation Number.

For more information on the Redress Process, visit www.dhs.gov/trip .
