WHAT ARE TIER POINTS
Back to the FAQ Index
What are Tier Points? How long are my tier points valid for? How many tier points are required to change status? Q What are Tier Points? A Flying club Tier Points allow you to earn seriously rewarding Flying Club benefits. So the more frequently you fly, the more points you'll earn which means you will progress from Flying Club Red to Flying Club Silver and then onto Flying Club Gold membership. The higher the tier, the better the benefits. Progression through the tiers is based on the number of Tier Points you earn when flying on Virgin Atlantic and selected Flying Club airline partners in a rolling 12-13 months. For example, if you wanted to upgrade to Silver or Gold and today's date is 30 April 2011 we would calculate the tier points you earned between 01 April 2010 - 30 April 2011 to see if you have enough tier points to be upgraded. Q How long are my tier points valid for? A When considering tier upgrades, tier points are valid for a full 12-13 months depending upon when you upgrade. Your tier points will be reset when you reach Flying Club Gold or at the end of your fixed membership year. Q How many tier points are required to change status? A Moving up is easy: If your silver membership year ends on or before 31 August 2012, you will require 10 tier points to retain silver membership. If your silver membership year starts on or after 01 September 2011, you will require 15 tier points to retain silver membership. If your gold membership year ends on or before 31 August 2012, you will require 30 tier points to retain gold membership. If your gold membership year starts on or after 01 September 2011, you will require 40 tier points to retain gold membership |
