PETE SHAW![]() I am a freelance web developer and publisher and my two most popular 'home-grown' sites are V-Flyer.com, a social space for passengers of Virgin-branded travel companies (dominated, unsurprisingly by Virgin Atlantic), and a fringe theatre review site, BroadwayBaby.com, which is why you'll never get hold of me during August as I spend the month at the Edinburgh Festival every year. Not only do I write about theatre, but I also produces it, and my claim to fame is producing the London revival of Blondel in 2006 with Tim Rice. My love of Virgin stems from my childhood, when Virgin Books published my first book in 1982 when I was just 14. Virgin Atlantic has also figured much in my life as my favorite airline, possibly because my father worked at British Airways for 26 years and the thing to do was, well, rebel. My VJAM project is a widget that will write the status of a flight you're booked on directly to your Facebook status, so friends and family will be able to track your journey from departure to arrival at the gate. It taps into passenger excitement about travelling, and uses social networking to share the thrill of flying long haul. Anyone can use my app although I have also merged it with Mat's Flying Club app so FC members can have both features. Enjoy! Back to VJAM index |
