Step away from your sun lounger and discover what the real Barbados has to offer
We’re not saying you shouldn't spend time soaking up the sunshine while on holiday in Barbados. The island has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, from lively, fun-packed resorts (opens in a new window) to unspoilt stretches of sand (opens in a new window) where you'll have no-one but the waves for company.
But if you've had your fill of sea, surfing (opens in a new window) and swimming with turtles (opens in a new window), you'll discover there's much more to this island than its sunny reputation. Whether you're strolling through Farley Hill National Park (opens in a new window) or taking in the cricket at the Kensington Oval (opens in a new window), catch a cheap flight to Barbados and have a different adventure every day.
Featuring St. Lawrence Gap, Bathsheba, Mullins Beach and Hastings Beach
Head to Oistins for the Fish Fry (opens in a new window), a lip-smackingly good feast of (yes, you guessed it) fish, freshly cooked at a jumble of beachside stalls. Friday night is party night.
Take your family and join the locals for horse racing at the Garrison Savannah (opens in a new window). Soak up the atmosphere in the stands, or chill out at the side of the track.
Enjoy a tram ride through Harrison's Cave, a jaw-droppingly spectacular limestone cavern. Just make sure you've got a hand to hold for the bit when they switch the lights off.
There's a lot more to Bridgetown than duty-free shopping (opens in a new window). Spend the day sightseeing and hanging out with the locals, then soak up the vibes when the sun goes down.
Make like an explorer, with a National Trust hike through the Barbados (opens in a new window) most people don't get to see. If you're in the mood for love, you can even do it by moonlight.
