Virgin Atlantic has today announced it will add an extra flight to Montego Bay from Gatwick Airport on 3rd November 2012. Holidaymakers will be able to enjoy a well timed Friday departure to Jamaica, taking one of Virgin’s three flights a week to the destination, which this year is celebrating its 50th year of Independence. Virgin’s other flights depart on Wednesday and Sunday. Nick Parker, Virgin Atlantic’s Regional Manager for the Caribbean said “The flight will be a welcome boost to tourist and visitor numbers to the UK and Jamaica with growing demand between the two locations.”

“We have committed more than £50 million to refurbishing the aircraft used on this service with new wider seats in Economy and Premium Economy and a revolutionary new Inflight Entertainment system throughout. The new cutting edge touch screen system by Panasonic offers 300 hours of content including the latest movies, TV shows and music for our passenger’s enjoyment.”

The first newly kitted out aircraft will fly on the Caribbean routes from May this year with the remainder of the refits completed in time for the start-up of the additional service in November. Eduardo Canjelas, Chief Executive Officer of Montego Bay Airports Limited said, “The UK is the largest inbound market from Europe to Jamaica and Virgin Atlantic is key to this connection. They have been a strong partner with us since starting their operations to Montego Bay in 2006 and we look forward to their continued success. We very much welcome this extra service.”
